Hi,
We have a test system that was upgraded from BW 3.1 to BI 7.0. It includes several custom cubes that we have built with largely standard business content (3.3) InfoObjects.
I have started testing the extraction of R/3 data into these InfoObjects, and find that some of InfoObjects are failing in the ETL process.
My question is: Would it be best to upgrade our legacy BC 3.3 InfoObjects to the latest BC 7.03?..(Followed by reactivating our custom cubes).
Also, some of our InfoObjects may have had minor modification such as having certain Navigational Attributes turned on. Will an upgrade of the InfoObject to a later version of the Business Content necessarily lose such changes or can such changes be passed over to the new version?

I confirm. You have no way to keep your changes if you upgrade. I would restrict upgrades to things where you need the BC from BI 7.0.
On the other hand, you normally have to apply quite a few OSS note to have the upload working correctly. We also have had to activate our object as infoprovider in order to load some text. Depending on your patch / note level, it may be needed.

Thanks for your comments Aneesh and Fabrice.
It would be nice if SAP implemented a more complete version management on InfoObjects - Instead of just storing Active/Revised/BC version, it would be great if you could restore to any previously activated version.
When activating Business Content with dependent objects, it's quite easy to activate over the top a newer version of the business content.

Adrian,
Unless there is something from business content that you are looking for, upgrade is best avoided. It will overwrite the changes that you have done.
InfoObjects failing in the ETL process are probably due to some other reason and upgrading from content normally won't help.
