Hierarchy Node Selection Screen F4 Value delay in Display

Hello Guru's

We are now upgraded to BW 7 version with BEx 3.5.

I have two Hierarchy Nodes in variable selection screen in a query. When trying for F4 value display for Hierarchy node in the selection screen it is taking almost 8-10 Minutes time. But for the other Hierarchy Node of the same kind its not even taking 1 Minute. Can anybody help me in explaining what might be the problem here for delayed F4 value display of the Hierarchy Node ? Is there any solution to reduce this delay. Apprecitate if you can help me.

Hi,

I have checked this in RSRT also. Its giving same problem. When i press the magnifying glass for F4 values in the variable selection screen for the Hierarchy Node its taking much time 8-10 mins. But, for the other Hierarchy Node in the same screen, when I press magnifying glass for F4 values its not even taking 30 secs. I still couldn't get to any resolution to this problem. Any suggestions or ideas are welcome.

How big is the hierarchy, are stats up to date, and is there an index on the hierarchy table?

Hi Prakash,

The Hierarchy is on Cust Sales node. And it has only one Hierarchy which has many leaves. About the stats, I have no idea where to check? Also please let me know where can I check the index on the heirarchy table?

The best place to start is transaction RSRV. Do the hierarchy checks and infoobject checks. If this is Oracle Database, you can use program RSANAORA to fix index or stats problems on the tables listed from RSRV.

Hi Prakash,

I did RSRV to check hierarchy but the check is fine without any problems. This problem is only occuring during BEx reporting for variable selection screen on F4 values and not for query execution.

Is this problem in both web and excel? Do you have this problem in RSRT as well? You have gone to RSRT and re-generated the report, correct? Also, are there any user-exit variables for this variable screen.

Hi Prakash,

As I said we have upgraded to BW 7.0 from 3.0B. Earlier there was no problem for F4 value display on the Hierarchy Node. There ae NO USEREXIT variables present. There is one more Hierarchy Node for which the F4 values display is not even taking 30 secs for display.

Does this error still occur for a user who has SAP_ALL. Let's try and rule out authorizations...

Hi,

As said before, there is no error generated, but the F4 value display for selecting the heirarchy node is taking about 8-10 mins. And the infoobject is not authorization relevant.

I'm out of ideas. Log a customer message so SAP can trace the issue down.

Did you try regenerating the query from RSRT?
