Changing Usage Type from :EP to BI-Java:EP

Hi,

In our system landscape, we have an internal corporate portal and we installed NW2004s as usage type EP (AS-Java) for this.

Now for BI, we are planning to use this portal as the reporting platform. Since the portal was originally installed as EP usage type, none of BI related roles and iviews are not available.

Can you please let us know, what is the right way to change usage type from EP to include BI-Java. When using the admin tool, we included BI-Java, the template installer has additional templates for BI scenerio, but BI related iviews/roles are not found.

Can you please point me to some documentation for acheiving this.

Thanks very much for your time.

regards,

ms

We wanted to do this same thing and received the information below from technical support. You should also refer to Note 883948 (Enabling additional usage types). We are on NW2004s SP06. We did not have any content in our portal other than the CRM 5.0 business package.

The installation of the additional Usage type is possible.

We recommend to install it on a test system first. As you run an Engine SP06 you can start sapinst to install an additional UT

Please start sapinst with an additional parameter specifiying the path

to an alternative catalog file on the installation master DVD. Example

for windows (here L: is the DVD drive) L:\IM_WINDOWS_I386\sapinst.exe

L:\IM_WINDOWS_I386\ut_product.catalog. After specifiying the central instance and the Java DVD location you will get a screen where you can select Usage Type e.g. BI-Java for additional installation. The installation will cover the deployment of the Usage Type.

After successfull installation you may also want to run the online configuration template for the UsageType

Thanks very much, Kim. Before I close the thread, one more question? The note you refered says additional usage type is not supported, but is this workaround works but not supported by SAP type thing?

I just re-looked at the current version of note 883948. When I printed off that note back in July, it was completely different (Version 4). I didn't get any impression from SAP that the solution provided in the ticket was not supported.

Hi,

This is interesting because to my knowledge , I have not any way to change the usage types after installation . Let others also reply to this .

If no other work arounds , you need to install with BI -Java usage type , which includes AS-Java and EP usage type

Aneez

Pls award point if you are satisfied

Aneez,

Do you mean to say, we have to uninstall and install portal with all the right usage types?
