Hi BWers,

I need some information about the Extractions.

1)Table ROOSOURCE. What it does exactly. And where we can find out the timestamp for datasource.

2)How the Time stamp error would be occur?

Any detailed documents about this would help to understand this very meaningfully..

Thnaks in advance..

Hi Venkat,

Timestamp Error: Time stamp stores the latest time nd date when a datsource was changed. Replication needs to be done only when you change the extract structure which in turn would change your datasource. The simplest way to know when replication needs to be done is each time you save you datasource in R/3. This causes the timestamp of the datasource to be changed and hence the timestamp of the datasource in R/3 and BW are not in sync. Replication would make the timestamp in sync in both R/3 and BW.

Hence you would notice the error "Timestamp error" when you do not replicate the datasource after changing it.

Hope this helps.

Hi Dinesh,

Thnaks for your quick response. Now,I am very clear about the "Timestamp".

And when ever we made changes to the Datasource, the time stamp will be generated/modified. When we replicating the datasource in BW, this timestamp will be maintained in BW for sync up.

Where we can get the "<b>timestamp</b> <b>information</b>" for each and every datsource.

I assinged few points towards your answer.

Thanks,

Venkat.

Hi Venkat,

You can also use the below table for Generic Data Source Delta Management

Table - ROOSGENDLM

The above table uses the fields DELTAID and REPEATID to keep a track of the DELTA

With Regards to the BW FI Extraction the time stamp info is maintained in the BW0M2_TIMEST.

Try also looking at the table ROCANCEL where u can find the info about different delta mechanisms like after image the data sources use.

Let me know if this helps u.

Hi Prathiba,

This is really useful information.

1) Where we can find out the "timestamp" for each Datasources( I guess, in the table ROOSOURCE).

2) How we can take the advantage of these two fields ( DELTAID and REPEATID) in the table ROOSGENDLM.

3)"different delta mechanisms like after image the data sources use". If possible please explain this in more detail.

I assigned few points. ( In fact, you might have entered in FIFTIES club)..

Thanks,

Venkat.

Hi Venkat,

Thanks. Check for the data sources in ROOSOURCE table whether it provides standard delta mechanism or not. Then check for the delta type in RODELTAM table to decide how the data to be staged in BW based on the type of image delivered by the data source (Additive image, New Image etc.).

When it comes to generic extraction then the fields Deltaid and repeatid are used to track the changes that take place in the source system and they are recorded in the table roosgendlm.

Thanks.

Hi Aparnesh,

Thanks for your quick response. But still my question is answered ( Partially). Could you pls give me some information about "Time Stamp Error"?.

And how the this time stamp maintained In R/3 and BW.

Looking for your esteemed response...

Thanks in advacne...

Hi Venkat,

Which time-stamp information you are looking for ? I don't think ROOSOURCE store any timestamp information. It just keeps the information about all the data sources in the source system and it tells about the " Delta" process of a specific data source.

Thx,

ROOSOURCE is a table in the source system which has information about all the data sources in the system

open the table and see for yourself
