Hi all

I am in the process of loading the master data for the standard business content master data sources. I am finding it difficult to find the respective data sources available for the Master data infosources. Is there any simple way to find the data sources with the help of the field available in the transfer rules etc.

your answers would be greatly appreciated.

You find it in rsa5/rsa6. If you know the description or some other clue you can also find it in ROOSOURCE table in R/3. I you know the fields in the datasource then look in ROOSFIELD table.

Hope it helps.

Hi paolo

Thanks for quick answer. My issue is lets say i have a master data infosource 'Target' and when i check the master data content i get three coloumns as Target, Short Description and Long Descrption. When i check the data sources i find Target group. How do i find the exact data source for any master data infosource. And in ROOSOURCE how can i check by the field name.

please let me know.

Hi bwlearner,

In addition to Paolo suggestion you can also try with RSA1 --> Metadata Repository or with the transport tag: select your cube and then check for all related InfoObjects the corresponding Transfer Rules.

Hi riccardo

Thank you, but can you tell me how to identify a data source in the source system side based on a field. Or can you tell me how to identify the data source in ROOSOURCE using a field name of the data source.

2-3 possible ways of finding out..

--first goto the SAP BW help page on help.sap.com and in the small search window on top right, give the infosource technical name.find the right page.sometimes it mentions the corresponding datasource to be used.

--go to the business content section in rsa1,find the infosource there.right click and view the documentation and then u will see a link 'display network flow'.click on it and it sometimes mentions the datasource in the network.

--MD datasource often have same name as the infosource. This is not true in cases where flexible MD infosources are used.

--Also observed this..if u do assign datasource on a BC infosource and then select the source sys id,often it will show the only relevant hits in the list of datasources(try it!)

--Also if u havent read the classic 'origins' blog from Roberto..here is the link..

Hi bwlearner,

I think the best way to find out a MasterData Data Source is first check via repository metadata or transport collection if the IO in your cube have Transfer Roules for MasterData. Then go in R/3 and via SE11 --> Table ROOSOURCE --> select TYPE (ATTR) and EXTRACTOR (for example to find DataSource for 0MATERIAL MasterData introduce MATERIAL). In this way you can find for example also DataSource 0ARTICLE_ATTR used for 0MATERIAL.

To find DataSources starting from a field use SE11 --> Table ROOSFIELD.

Hope this help.

Ciao.

Hi

You can do this with table rsosfieldmap.

You find a lot of DS but if you have an idea what you look for you will find it.
