    hi Raja,

    The xml file is there stored in application server(AL11).

    what i need is to open that xml file and read it into an internal table of my program and i have some validations after that. im not really aware of parsing and its preference for downloading an XML file.

    thanks & regards,

    vinny

    • which version of SAP you are using?

      to read from AL11 you need to use open dataset statement and put it in a internal table.

      and then you can either download to local pc using cl_gui_frontend_service=>gui_download or

      read the element(xml) values into a itab using

      XSLT or using the following code sample so that you can use the values to do further processing in your program

      first call SCMS_STRING_TO_XSTRING to convert the xml string read from AL11 to xstring and then call this FM

      data: xmldata type xstring .

      data: result_xml type standard table of smum_xmltb .

      data: return type standard table of bapiret2 .

      call function 'SMUM_XML_PARSE'

      exporting

      xml_input = xmldata

      tables

      xml_table = result_xml

      return = return .

      Regards

      Raja

    Hi ,

    Welcome to SDN.

    <i>downloading an XML file into an internal table</i>

    do you just want to store the xml file into itab ? where is xml coming from?

    or do you want to parse the xml and store the values from the xml into row/columns in itab?

    Regards

    Raja
