ESS and EP7.0, ERP2005

Hi,

I have an ERP2005 , ABAP Stack only. Now I want to use ESS-Scenarios. I have an external Portal, EP7.0 on Netweaver2004s.

Can i use the external Portal for the ESS-Scenario or do I have to re-install ERP2005 with the integrated scenario?

Hi,

You can connect the external Portal to the ERP 2005. In the portal create a system and under the connection properties enter the properties of the ERP 2005 system and it should work.

Are there any restrictions regarding the ESS-Scenarios? From what I read in the manual, my impression was that there is no difference between the internal scenario (ABAP Stack and Java Stack together) vs. external Portal. From my understanding, it is just the deployement of the ESS business package, that counts? Is this impression true?

Yes, it does not matter if the portal is standalone or on the same WAS. You only have to deploy the BP for ESS on the portal, create a system and point it to the ESS system.
