cube to cube transfer (from 6 dimensions to 1 dimension)

hi,

Cube1 has 6 dimensions and 8 fields. (6 charater, 1 time and one key figure)

Cube2 has only one dimension and 4 fields. (2 character, 1 time and one key figure).

Is possible to transfer only 4 fields (2 char, 1 time and 1 key figure) from cube1 to cube2. I also want to write some functionality (ABAP Code) in update routine while transferring data from cube1 to cube2.

I appreicate your help.

Thank you,

Avneet

hi bhanu..thank you for your help..

I assumed that cube to cube data transfer would be diffucult as compared to ODS - CUBE data transfer as cube contains dimensions..

    please clear my doubt..

I have one more doubt. I want to transfer data from cube1 to another ODS.Before every data load I want ODS data to be deleted automatically. I assume that we should write some event etc..please clear my doubt.

    • Hi Avneet,

The fact that a cube has dimensions does not affect the data load process where a cube acts as the source of data.

If you are using a process chain to load from the cube to ODS, then try using the Complete Deletion of Data Target Contents process.

      Hope this helps...

    hi Avneet,

It is possible to update only 4 fields from the source cube to the target cube. Map only those required from the source to the target cube in the update rules and leave the rest without mapping. Hope it works..........

    Hi Avneet,

You would need to create an export datasource in Cube1 and then create update rules from the Cube1 InfoSource to Cube2. In the update rules you can map the fields whose data you want cube2 to have. You can write the code in the Start Routine of this update rule.

    Hope this helps...

    hi all,

please any one help me in clearing my doubt.

Will I face any problem while transferrring few fields data from cube to ODS?. I want to delete the ODS data before every load (full load to ODS) without using process chains or events? If there is no other option other than using process chains, let me know.

Is it recommended to transfer data from CUBE to ODS.?

    Reards,

    Avneet

    • Avneet,

It would help more if you would provide more details about your scenario.

In the InfoPackage you can easily delete the contents of the InfoCube, not ODS. It is possible to transfer data from an InfoCube to an ODS, but may be you can also use an APD process here.

Using an APD you can run a query on the cube and populate the results in an ODS. This ODS is a transactional ODS and the data will be deleted each time before reload.

      Hope this helps...
