Data dictionary and data source

Hi

In http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/6c/c8bbdc13a8435fa4e0d7ccd97bb1ea/frameset.htm it explains how to create a data dictionary and web frontend.

Regards to this point "Choose New -> Other. Choose Persistence in the left-hand pane and SQLJ Source in the right-hand pane", it creates a java class with the class body etc. So I do I just overwrite it with

package temp.persistence.gettingstarted.dao;
#sql public context Ctx with (dataSource = "java:comp/env/TMP_PERSISTENCE_EXAMPLE");

Please help me in creating a data source alias, I dont get this option "New -> META-INF/data-source-aliases.xml.

" in j2ee explorer

    Hello,

    What you need is to switch to J2EE Development perspective in your NetWeaver Dev Studio, navigate to your Enterprise Archive project, make sure that you are on J2EE Explorer tab in the left hand side panel. Right click on the project will open New -> META-INF/data-source-aliases.xml menu option.

    Best regards,

    Dmitry

      Hi Dmitry,

      If you take a look the the link above from help.sap.com, it explains creation of a web module project and a data dictionary. To create a data source alias I had to refer to another point in the site.

      I had tried to do what you mentioned before itself, but I don not get the option New -> Meta INF

      I have not created an enterprise archive project: just a web module proj and a data dic. proj.

      Any help on this?

      Thanks in advance

    Hello,

    You have several options to create an alias http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/ea/a418d295d4493fa51aaad026a756b3/frameset.htm

    the option New -> META-INF/data-source-aliases.xml that you are referring to, requires Enterprise Archive project.

    Once you create the project you will see the New -> META-INF/data-source-aliases.xml on the right click menu.

    Regards,

    Dmitry

      I kind of solved it half way through.

      I created an enterprise applicatiion project and added my web module project to it.

      Then I was able to do what you suggested.

      But now Im having some deployment problems.

      It says deployment aborted, check sdn/engine and stuff.

      My message server port is 3601 and when I say deploy it does not even ask me for the sdm password.

      Any help on this, please..

    Hello Prem,

    Go to Window -> Show View -> J2EE Engine and check wheither SDM appears as running or not (should be green). If not, restart it from MMC or restart the entire J2EE. If SDM process is up and running, you may want to try to deploy from the SDM GUI, which is in your J2EE directory under \SDM\program, then start RemoteGui.bat. Check the log files for clues if still not working.

    Regards,

    Dmitry
