No Adapter Engine shows up

For a business system, I am creating a communication channel, which uses a FILE adapter. In the Edit communication channel window, for the Adapter engine pull down box, I don't have any entry. Normally, it is supposed to show 'Integration Server'.

If I choose HTTP, IDoc or XI as adapter type, Adapter Engine is showing up as Integration Server - as expected.

For other adapter types(FILE, JDBC, etc) the pull down is empty !

Am running XI3.0 on SP9

My SLDCHECK is working fine. I tried clearing the SLD cached, but didn't help.

Please help....
