Hello everybody

I would like to know if I need use the bid engine only for live auction or to do RFQ it's necessary too.

In our country the necessary licensse for Bid Engine is very expensive and we don't want use.

Is it possible to do RFQ in EBP without bid engine?

Thanks

Nilson Fonseca

In SRM, RFQ is part of Bidding Engine.

You have to create a Bid invitation for RFQ. Bidding is an advanced functionality for normal RFQ process.

If you dont want to use Bidding then you need to create manual RFQ without using EBP or create RFQ using backend R/3 system (using MM in R/3).

Nilson/Jagdish,

You might also want to explore the create requests link in SRM to achieve what you are requesting !!

Requests link is meant to create a request/SC which goes to buyer for further processing and not to Vendor.

Buyer will convert that request to RFQ and send to multiple vendors.

Request/SC will have only one vendor assigned where as RFQ has to be send to mutiple vendors to get the quotes.

Hello Nilson,

I am not aware about the licensing procedure.

But SRM 4.0onwards as far as I know Bidding Engine is integrated in SRM server.

Do you need seperate licenses as per the vendor users?

which version you are on ?

Yes. To use Bidding engine in Production environment you need to have a license. But it should not cost much when you already have SRM5.0 version. You can very much test the Bidding functionality in Test environment till you get the license.

By having SRM5.0, there is no meaning to think about RFQ process without using Bidding engine.

Happy new year.

My customer does not want to pay for the bidding engine. However we want to implement the RFQ procedure and compare the offers of the vendors. We can do it in R/3 system but we want to transfer the winning ofer to the SRM so that the PO will be based on the winning quatation. In order to transfer the quatation to the SRM what do we need to do??? do we need the bidding engeen for this ???

Thank you
