how system picks up the register?

Dear Sirs,

I want to know how system picks up the registers? for example we have two registers RG23A for raw material and RG23C for capital goods. so during excise capture how system will know which register to update.

would it pick based on material type or something else?

Please explain

Yes it is based on Material type maintained in J1iD.
If it is Raw material then RG23A will be picked.
If it is consumables/Assets/capital goods then RG23C will be picked

Though OP has not indicated in which tax procedure they are into, I presume, it is TAXINN and J1ID will not work for TAXINN.
