Read Characteristics values

Dear All,

I want to read the values of Characteristics based on the value of other.

Like how many and what ship-to-parties are associated to a Branch. (Branch -> Custom created).

One BW guy told me that these values are stored in LiveCache.

Please suggest some function modules to read Characteristics values.
