To use any web based components, including the 2004s Web Application Designer, Report Designer, or Web Analyzer, you need to have BI-JAVA usage type installed.

You can still use the 2004s BEx Analyzer (Excel) without the BI-JAVA usage type.

It is recommended that you have all 4 usage types installed (AS-ABAP, AS-JAVA, EP, and BI-JAVA) as this is required for full functionality. These can be on a single system or can be 2 separate systems:

1 system:

System (AS-ABAP, AS-JAVA, BI-JAVA, EP)

2 systems:

System (AS-ABAP)

System (AS-JAVA, BI-JAVA, EP)

If I have AS-JAVA and EP installed, do I use sapinst to install BI-JAVA? Can it share db with Portal or has to be separate db? Is BI-JAVA installed on top of Portal? or both Portal and BI-JAVA are on top of AS-JAVA?

Yes, you can use sapinst to do a BI-JAVA addin install. Both Portal and BI-JAVA are installed on top of AS-JAVA on that stack but BI-JAVA requires EP components as well.

Hey Prakash,

For PDF print version in WD ABAP ALV, Note 918236 says BI-Java is a pre requisite. I don't quite understand that. Our Portal is not a BI system and we don't have any plans of using it for BI. There is a separate one for that purpose.

So In this scenario, what would be the solution? Is BI-Java really required for this?

Please let me know.

Thanks

Prakash,

So if BI-Java usage type is not required for 2004s BEx Analyzer (excel), what are the minimum component requirements to run 2004s BEx Analyzer (excel)?
