MD05, MD08, MD21 exclude materials from MRP and clean messages

Hello,

I have unexpected MRP List messages in MD05.
Here is my situation.
I have a list of materials that were flaged for deletion both at client and plant level but they still had a "PD" MRP type.
Despite the customizing in OMDY, they were not excluded from the MD21 (MRP file).
I modified those materials using MM17 and set the MRP type to "ND".

They now disapeared from MD21.
Right after, I deleted every messages from MD08 and generated a new MRP NEUPL.
After MRP RUn, in MD05, the MRP message linked to those material are still there, despite the fact that the material are flaged for suppresion, with planification ND, and are not in planing file.

On top of that, the detail of MRP message refer to those material as having the MRP type "PD". It's like the old deleted message come back from nowhere or the system does not consider the modifications performed to both planning file and material master (of course, I checked the material master and the value after MM17 is "N" as expected).

Do you have any idea about what is happening ?
Thanks for kind help

Best Regards

Hello Morgan

The customizing setting from transaction OMDY will not actually delete the planning file entry, it will simply uncheck the planning file flags. It means that your material will no longer be planned if it is no longer changed. If there is an MRP relevant for your material, the planning file entry will be set again and MRP will try to plan it again.

The best way to get rid of the planning file entry is to set MRP type ND and I wrote a blog about it a few weeks ago:

https://blogs.sap.com/2017/02/21/performance-improvement-in-mrp-excluding-deleted-materials-from-the...

Setting the MRP type ND, however, will not delete the MRP list. The MRP list will also not be deleted by the next MRP run, because your material will be no longer planned by MRP, so I suggest you to run transaction MD08 and delete the old MRP lists after you change the MRP type to ND.

Please also observe that the MRP list stores the information that was available during the last MRP run (table MDKP), so if you change the MRP type after that, it will not be updated in the MRP list. This is an intentional system behavior and the idea is that you can get enough information to know why the material was planned this way.

I hope this information clarifies your questions and feel free to ask any additional question.

Best regards,

Caetano
