Alternate product in MRP - BYD Query

Hello Experts,

We have few products who has alternate products in system.

As MRP checks for that specific product stock, it proposes for purchase (ignoring the alternate products)

Is there any way we can define in system that product A is alternate product to B item.

hence whenever there is requirement of product A, system will check A & B also, if B product found in system, item B will be planed for delivery & no proposals are created.

Thanks

Vishal Kambare

Hello,

Please have look in one of the functionality which is called Parts Interchangeability.

I copy the help.sap lines which describes below

This function enables you to exchange manufacturer parts in material requirements planning (MRP). In MRP, the system takes account of the interchangeability of inventory-managed manufacturer parts . This ensures that part “A” is not ordered, if part “B”, which is interchangeable with “A”, is in stock.

Go with the below link, it will somehow cater your requirement which you need.

Hi Vishal,

It is not possible to define alternate product for any given item in the system. Therefore there is no way to configure this scenario.
