Hello experts,
We are using Connection by Vendor ; Oracle OCI to design report in new Crystal for enterprise (cre4) and the issue we are facing is while publishing the report to crystal enterprise its giving an error data source is not matching.
Little background about our platform, we are only using Crystal enterprise 2013 server, we are not using Business objects or any universe to design reports we are just simply using Crystal developer to design all reports using relational database like oracle, sql server.
Can someone help or share your experience?
Thanks in advance
Dell - Thanks for the clarifications. One last question, we are licensed for CRS not for BO suite, you mentioned above we can use universes in the IDT, i am little confused by this statement. Can we really use universe to design semantic layer with CRS license, that's not the intent but would like to know? Can the webi also be used as that it also part of the client tool, is that correct or not? Please clarify?

I agree with Dell, "error data source is not matching" usually means 32 vs 64 bit platform mismatch.
From my experience Server needs both Oracle clients - 32 and 64 bit.

Actually, it only needs both if you're using "classic" Crystal and not Crystal for Enterprise. While the BI Platform (which CRS is based on), including the services that run Crystal for Enterprise reports, is 64-bit, the servers that run classic Crystal are 32-bit and require the 32-bit database client.

Do the workstation where you're developing the reports and the server where they're running have the same version of Oracle installed? (The workstation would be 32-bit and the server would be 64-bit.) Which version of the Oracle client are you using? Support for the Oracle Net Client 10.1 has been deprecated, so that will not work. Per the Product Availability Matrix (PAM), you have to have one of the following installed for it to work:
10gR2 - 10.2.0.1.0
11gR1 - 11.1
11gR2 - 11.2
12C - 12.1
Also, I think you need to have the connection configured in BusinessObjects in order for the reports to work there. This means that you have to run the Information Design Tool and create the connection (no universe needed, though).

Thanks for your response. I checked we don't have client tools installed, we do have UMT (isn't that part of client tools) I am wondering how IDT is not there.. I do have some questions though:
Do we need to install it on server or workstation and which version should be downloaded?
Once, client tools is installed can we also use universe feature?
The connection should be odbc or native client?
UMT is part of the server install, not the Client Tools.
Client tools should be installed on a workstation.
You need version 4.1 SP8 to match your CRS system.
Yes, you could also use universes - with Crystal for Enterprise, you'll need to design them in the IDT (.unx universes), NOT in the Universe Design Tool (.unv universes).
For Oracle, I highly recommend using a native connection instead of odbc - it's much more reliable.

I assume you mean that you're using Crystal Reports Server 2013 (CRS), is that correct? Do you know what service pack of CRS you have installed? Also, which version of CRE are you using?
