How flexible or easy to extended existing out of box MDM structures for example; attribute 1, customer group etc
Hi,
Its pretty easy to extend the provided MDM structures.
However, there are lot other changes you need to do too.
If you extend the structure, you need to change the IDOC structure in SAP.
The function module in SAP handling the IDOC changes.
This new functionality needs to be incorporated in the FM.
You need to create new MAP files.
The xsd file changes.
From XI point of view, you shall be required to map these new fields from MDM to IDOC structure.
I guess thats not the place with heavy impact as you just need to take care of mapping.
But if you say n no. of systems connected with the R/3, then this change shall be reflected in no. of sytems.
Hope that helps.
Regards,
Tanveer.

It is a medium complex process of changing the structures . But I think it is recommened to have a data model ready on the paper with a lot of brain storming before creating it into MDM.

From the MDM perspective, it is easy to extend the Tables with new fields and attributes. You can do this in MDM Console.
But, if you are integrating with R/3, then you have to extend the Idoc too. You have to code the Customer Exit for this idoc funtion module.
It is common in projects to extend an Idoc.
