where do we write in BI-IP

Hi all,

May I know where do we write (corresponding to Planning Layouts in BPS) in BI-IP. Can anyone tell the logic behind the different steps involved for writing.

Thanks

INPUT READY QUERIES is the answer with MANUAL PLANNING

In BI applications that use data providers that are assigned an input-ready query, the system allows the manual entry of data either in <b>Input-ready cells</b> or <b>Input-ready new rows</b>.

In input-ready cells, you can change individual <b>key figures</b> for a posted data record

In input-ready new rows, you can either change posted data records or enter new data records for characteristic combinations that do not yet exist.

<b>Integration -How it works</b>

You use the <b>BEx Analyzer</b> to create and execute BI applications that provide this function; alternatively, you can create them in the <b>Web Application Designer</b> and execute them on the Web.

In the BEx Analyzer, you use the Analysis Grid design item; on the Web, you use the Analysis Web item.

<b>Prerequisites -</b>

The following prerequisites must be fulfilled before you can change existing data:

1) At least one input-ready key figure exists.

2) No active conditions exist.

The following prerequisites must be fulfilled before you can enter data:

No active universal display hierarchies exist.

Pls. follow my earlier post below to get insights on Input Ready Queries.

Hope it Helps

Thanks Chetan,

When I tried to create a query on a real time cube (through infoprovider) I get a No Applicable Data Error. The "data package" does not show the Most Current Data char. What could be the error?

Thanks

Its local cube.

I hope the data is loaded in to the cube??

Also any detailed error message(long text) might help.

Background Information: I created the Z real time cube- ZCUBE which has no data and a copy of the std cube. My aggregate level ZAGGR is on ZCUBE. While creating the BEX query the DATA PACKAGE char does not contain the MOST RECENT DATA. When I execute the query I get the message "No Applicable Data Found".

Now what I am trying to figure out here is through the Web or BEX, where to write the data in the cube?

Since it is on a real time cube, my opinion is - it need not have to contain data to start writing on the cube. Am I right on this?

I will be happy to explain if you will need more clarification on this.

Thanks

Hi,

First you need to add some records to your cube. You can write data into planning cube through Input template that you get on Planning modeler or Planning wizard. Key the data and save it .Or you can read a data from a std cube containing actual data through Multiprovider. To read data from a stdcube create a multiprovider with one basic cube and you real time cube, then use copy function to copy data from basic cube to real time.

Hope it helps,

Correct..

BI - IP Leverages front end Bex from BI perspective ..however most of the planning functions remain same functionally with some additions.

Hope it Helps

Hi Oruvan..What ever u said is perfect...Iam also facing the same problem...Got any solution for this

First I created a Input Ready query based on Cost Center ( Variable Hierarchy), Fiscal year,Version to plan data.

here lead column is Account Number ( Hierarchy--Given as hierarchy in query) and Data column is Keyfigure ( Month by Month Plan)

When I execute the query , getting error No applicable data found..But when we execute Input Ready Query There is no Need of any data .

Waiting for the Answer....

Hi Vamshi / Oruvan,

Dose your real time cube has any records in it. If not then create a data record using the Input template on the IP .you can create one on the Planning sequence tab , choose create a Planning sequence then one lower tab choose Input template choose your aggregation level & Filter and Planning function. Initial no records will be display as there are not data records in the cube. Now choose "New Row" and key the characteristics and key figure value then save it. Once you have saved the data , then execute your query you will get result.

Generally we copy actual data from a basic cube to real time plan cube. once we get the data records in the plan , then create a Input ready query for planning.

hope it helps.

Hi Balaji

Thanks for the info..I have Successfully written the data record into the cube...But When Iam Executing in the query designer as Input ready Query It is not allowing me to change data even though under planning tab I have selected " Data can be changed by either functions or manually" PLZ Assit....Moreover I cant add new row from Query Designer Input Ready query exection...

Hi Vamshi,

Have you include all the characteristics combination that are available in you Aggregation level. you must add them in the" Rows " of the Query designer and then you can hide them by choosing " No Display" property. Also have you included the Filter that you have in created with your aggregation. Specify all values for Compounded characteristic like Fiscal year variant / Controlling area etc if any. You cannot create new record through Input ready Query. You can try using this Planning function " Generate Combination" which will create records for all possible master data combination.

hope it helps,

Go thru My scenario...I have 500 * 500 Char Combinations...

Planning is based on

Header

Cost Center ( Variable Hierarchy), Fiscal year,Version to plan data.

here lead column is Account Number ( Hierarchy--Given as hierarchy in query) and Data column is Keyfigure ( Month by Month Plan)

Moreover I didn't find Char Combination Planning Function "Generate Combination"

Vamshi,

Could you please clarify whether you are using BPS or Integrate Planning ? In IP there is no Header / Lead & Data column concept. Are you using the Aggregation levels in you Input ready query? .

You will find "Generate Combination" Planning Function only in IP..

Give me you email Id I will send you screen shots of my sample query .

I assume that when you execute the 'Input Ready Query' you are able to see data that you entered through the input template. I would check the following:

a) Does your 'Input Query' use a filter (created on aggregation level)?

b) Do all the characteristics in the aggregation level are indeed used in the input query?

When this works you would only be able to modify the key figure values that you have entered using template. You would not be able to add rows when you execute the query from query designer. To enter new rows you would need to use the input query in WAD.

Hope this helps.

Narasimha,

Inorder to create new records you have use copy function or FOX formula to generate new records in the cube. I use to copy the current year data records to next year by using simple copy function. I have created a WAD in which I have added button to execute the copy function.

Hope it helps,

Balaji,

I was not asking the question. I am familiar with what it takes to create data through manual entry or copy function or other means etc.

I was trying to help Vamsi with why he is not able to modify data he using 'input ready query'.

One more question...

Why my input ready query is grayed out ..Even though iam Not locking it and Selecting it as " Data can be changed by either manually or by using planning function"

I'm not sure what you have missed in the query..could you send me the screen shot of your aggregation level , filter and the query designer filter section and Row / column section.
