i mean where exactly XI is usefull with these things..
Thanks
Seshu
Hi Seshu,
For XI and MDM :
XI and XApps :
XI stands for eXchange Infrastructure which is a messaging and BPM (Business Process Management) platform for Netweaver. xAPPS are the application which are build on top to mySAP Business Suite (using ESA) making use of one or more my SAP Business Suite applications (ERP, CRM, SRM, PLM etc). xAPPS are developed using CAF (Composite Application Framework).

Hi Seshu,
Well, from a very fundamental point of view...you can connect all these in the following manner:-
A product created for the Shop Floor management-an xApp product, wherein the Master data is managed by MDM and XI behaves as the middleware(the process integrator) which takes care of transacting between the various systems which are part of the xApp or are intercating with xApp.

Hi Seshu,
xApps

Shop Floor
The supported and recommended model for XI connecting to shop floor systems is through SAP xMII. SAP xMII is "purpose-built" for this type of application, includes a rich set of connectors and data transformation components specifically targeted at manufacturing applications, and provides the complete "chain of custody" of information from SAP ERP (order/demand data, master data) and to SAP ERP (production results and other related reporting data), eliminating the need for yet another EAI solution on the plant floor.
XI is typically deployed in the data center, xMII in a distributed manner at each manufacturing site. This provides for optimal availability, reliability, and lowest possible TCO. SAP xMII can also use other mechanisms besides XI to interface with SAP ERP, depending on the customer's technical landscape and SAP component version(s).
We also have a convergence strategy based on leveraging the best and most appropriate components/services in NetWeaver and SAP xMII in future versions of xMII. There are no explicit plans to replace Business Logic Services (BLS) with any other SAP technologies, but of course, since BLS automatically generates web services, it is inherently interoperable with CAF, Visual Composer, XI, and other composition and orchestration technologies.

I hope it helps.....
