Property metadata

In Global services, I've created a group in property metadata.

Then I clicked on the property option, and created a property with:

Namespace alias-default

Type-String

Group-"The one I created above"

Allowed values csv-a, b, c

documents/<The folder in which i had created a .txt file before>

Clicked OK.

I navigated to Content Admin-> KM Content -> /documents/<myfolder>, Clicked on a text file within that -> Details -> Settings -> Properties.

There I do not see My Property

Any idea if Im missing something here

Hi Prem,

in order to see your property, you need to integrate it in a Property (Structure) Group and not only in a Property (Metadata) Group. You can create this group under "Global Services" -> "Property Structures" -> "Property Groups" and add your property to the "Group Items". Afterwards you need to add the just created group to the "Group Items" of the Property (Structure) Group "all_groups". By that you will have a new tab with your property in it.

Alternatively, if you use the Property (Metadata) Group "default" in your property definition (and not your own group, you should be able to see your property in the "Miscellaneous" tab, without having to add it to a Property (Structure) Group.

Hope this helps,

Robert

PS: Check again all parameters, to be correct, as mentioned in SAPHelp. For example the entry for "Document Validity Patterns (csv)" must be "<b>/</b>documents/<YOUR_FOLDER>/".

Hi Robert,

Thanks for your help.

It worked out right.

I get to see my property group as one of the tabs.

But now I face a new problem. Once I navigate to my folder and click on Details from the context menu and then Properties. I can no longer navigate between the tabs ...Access Links, Miscellaneous, <My group>, etc..

I cant click on anything on that page after it loads. It seems like its locked.

Any idea what couldve gone wrong?

Thanks in advance.

P.S. I've duly assigned you points.

Hi Prem,

I don't think that the problem is related to the configuration made upon my advice, so maybe a new thread would be good, so that others would notice your new problem.

Anyhow, my first look would be of course at the default.trc for any kind of hints, as well as to the bottom left corner of IE to look for any JavaScript errors.

Hope it helps,

Robert

Hi Prem,

something similar happened to me as well. The problem was, that my metadata property had "Default" property metadata group assigned, at the same time as property (structure) group "all_group" contained "Default" among its group items.

If this is the case, configuration iView should notify and warn you about this fact while browsing the Property metadata or Property structures configuration.

If this is the case, solution could be either to remove "Default" from "all_group" group items (which will cause miscelaneous tab to disapear from Details view) or maybe to assign different non-"Default" property metadata group to your metadata property.

Regards,

Jaro
