Schema Mapping (Package default schema)

I have been investigating on schema mapping quite some time now and the principles of mapping one schmema to another in a target system are familiar to me. However, I am totally confused when it comes to "package default schema".

What I recongnized is that Calculation Views aren't influenced by a package default schema: If TABLE_1 is in SCHEMA_1 in the source system and in SCHEMA_2 in the target system, I have to define a schema mapping in the target system from SCHEMA_1 to SCHEMA_2 to make the Calculation View work, irrespectively of any package default schema (and the related mapping between authoring and physical schema). is in no way clear about package default schema, to the contrary the article is absolutely confusing because it is not at all clear if the author is referencing the source or the target system and the last 3 examples do not have anything to do with the pictures referenced.

So, can somebody please shed light on the following aspects:

1.) Where is a package default schema defined? In the target or in the source system?

2.) Which objects are afected by a package default schema and how?

Thank you
