Portal Transports and controlling content

We have a fairly pathetic setup for our current portal. We don't have change recording configured and there is no CTS+ so we simply export and import .epa files.

We find it difficult to control content correctly and I'm wondering if anyone has any insight.

We have a project that will require two new tiles to show up in the portal. They need to go live about a week apart. They are both contained in the same portal role.

Because of the short time frame and functional's desire to test in test and QA, we develop both tiles at the same time.

When they are ready for the first tile to go to production we move the .epa file that contains that iView and the role. The problem is, the role also contains the iView for the second tile that is not ready to move to production yet.

Is there a way that I'm not aware of that will allow the movement of only the role change specific to this iView and not the whole role (as it also contains the second iView)? Or is there a different way of moving content between the various test, qa and prod systems in separate .epa files?

This is is simpler example, but we have projects where there are several tiles being configured affecting multiple roles and the issue is as each goes to production, there is inevitably content that "goes live" before they are ready.

I would just export/import the iViews separately, then delta link them into the role in QA then production when you are ready.

As opposed to transporting the whole role. Been doing that for years.....
