XI Message Archiving & Deletion

Former Member

I'm looking to archive and delete old messages in XI 3.0 that are dated before we started running our archiving jobs. Does anyone know how to flag these old messages for archival?

Thanks in advance!

Hello everybody,

although this is an old thread it still seems to be relevant as I am experiencing the same problems. I'm just starting to archive XML messages with the objekt BC_XMB but old messages don't seem to have the necessary flag or something to be included in the jobs. Does anybody have a solution for this yet?

Kind regards,

Mario

Courtney,

if the respective interfaces are configured for archiving and the messages have reached a final state, they will be picked up by your archiving job as soon as they fulfill the retention period criteria. If they are not configured for archiving and you have scheduled the delete job, they will again be picked up as soon as they fulfill the retention period criteria.

You do not need to do anything special here, as the criteria for deletion and archiving is always the retention period and not the time or date the first archiving job was running.

Thank you Christine!

It seems though that many messages still exist from before the retention period of the first execution of the archiving jobs. (Wow, that's hard to put into words!) In other words, we started running our archiving jobs in September, 2005 but I still see messages dating back before that in SXMB_MONI (early 2005 and 2004 as well). Some of these are in the status of "no reciever found" but many are in the "message processed" status. Any thoughts as to why these aren't getting picked up?

Thank you again for your help.

Hey Courtney,

if they are in status no receiver found they are not in a final state so they don't get picked up. There are only two final states for asynchronous messages one being message processed and the other message with errors canceled.

As to why your processed messages don't get picked up i can only guess, could be that their overall message status is processed but the outbound state is not final (there's another "flag field" in sxmb_moni when you scroll to the right just after column Outbound) or you miss them in your archiving configuration.
