C4C Template solution - Should we create Custom BO or extend Standard BO?

Hi,

We are thinking of building a Custom Solution to integrate our product with SAP Sales Quote process. Our thought is to create a custom Business Object and use it for the integration with our product and then provide a backend integration between our custom BO and the Standard Sales Quote BO. This will help us to use the standard integration for the Quote to Order process between C4C and ECC.

Is this the correct way to go about it?

Should we extend a Standard BO in our custom solution as we plan to provide it to our customers as a template solution that they can import into their tenants?

or should we use a Custom BO to avoid any import issues?

can we use standard account, Party and other fields in the Custom BO?

Any pointers will be appreciated.

Regards,

Vipin

    Hi Vipin,

Using custom BO or Standard XBO(Standard BO Extension) is completely depend on your Business Requirement. Generally we try to leverage the functionality via XBO as it keeps the standard functionality intact along with our custom use case.

But when we need to heavily customize the standard process in such a way that you do not want to use the standard process or the process which you want to implement is missing in standard feature then you go for Custom BO.

From the question, I see that you want to leverage the C4C Quote to Order Process with ECC integration hence its better to go with BO Extension. ( Custom BO can be used for some missing functionality )

Still it is more of a consulting issue which ideally your C4C consultant should tell you in detail.

    Thanks
