Convert Long/Lat to ST_POINT within Calculated Column

Hi there,

I'm wondering if it is possible to convert Long/Lat information to ST_POINT within a calculated column in a projection node. I have the Long/Lat information stored in column Location and thought something like this would work

Unfortunately it does not :(
Does anybody know, what is wrong?
I'm on HANA 1.0 SP12

Help would be much appreciated!

Kind regards

Hello Patrick,

The ST_POINT function requires two values to construct a point from text, NEW ST_Point('Point (10 20)').

I have tried using field names instead of actual values, in the sql console, and that didn't work for me. You still go ahead and try it.

Also, did you try to execute using the 'SQL' engine as mentioned in the error message?

Hi Patrick, Hi Benedict, do you have a solution to this?

It is quite contradictory!

If you use Language Column Engine you can use the ST functions like:

ST_GeomFromText('POINT(10 10)',4326)

however it does not accept to create a new column of data type ST_POINT/ST_GEOMETRY.

Switching than to Language SQL does not allow you to use any ST_ functions and even valid SQL expressions are not accepted...

Any solution to this?

P.S. Using HANA Studio SPS12
