Message type is not known to device - latest MMS version

Hi all

We have been using the IoT service in SAP CP for a while and it works great. Now we have upgraded the MMS to the current version (14.03.2017). When we now created a new message type and update the post message program we get the http response 202 but the data is not added as a new table in CP. We he the response

payload: "{"msg":"Message type [c98296459480253ae25a] is unknown for device [55f98c02-70c8-42f4-b69d-76de73972b74]. Synchronizing with RDMS. Processing delayed"}"

Looking at earlier videos of how to set up and IoT scenario I see that when we created a new Message type we also specified the Device type. This is not the case any more. Is this the reason for the error? Do we need to add the mapping between the Message type and the Device type somewhere else to get the MMS to accept the incomming messages from our HTTP post program?

Hello Erik,

a video you refer to is probably showing IoT RDMS API of version v1 where MessageTypes were associated with the DeviceTypes. RDMS v2 API [1] was introduced with version 2.21.0 on 15.07.2016 [2]. Here MessageTypes are added to the specific DeviceType. However it should be backwards compatible (sending messages on behalf of "old" devices should still work). Could you please share your landscape and account ID with me, so that we could check in details? (You can do it via a private message, I will send one to you to start the conversation).
