Hello all,
I have seen a lot of res. key figures (RKF)delivered by SAP in this format like, does this type of naming convention tell you something or is it kinda indication, i am looking at a SAP delivered query and there are two RKF with exactly the same names "Applications for Period &0T_YESES&"
Can someone explain what does this mean?
Thanks
Hi K M,
The "&0T_YESES&" part of the description is actually the placeholder for a Text variable. This means that the name shown in the query column or row where this RKF would be used, would display text from some char values (based on what the text variable is created on and the chars restricted in creation of the RKF)
Hope this helps...

Like taking the example from your reqt yesterday, if you create 2 columns for different fiscal year values (using the offset) then you need a way to differentiate between whcih column has which year's data. Here is where you can use text variables. It will be created as a replacement path variable based on char for fiscal year. Then you can use this in the description of the RKF and if the text variabe is name TYEAR1, then it appears like &TYEAR1&.
Hope this helps...
Bhanu,
Ok yesterday when i restricted my KY with fiscal year, I created it locally and then just changed the name of as "Amount for current year" and other column as "amount for previous year" now where do i create text variable and how does it pick the values?
Can you please explain a little more "Here is where you can use text variables. It will be created as a replacement path variable based on char for fiscal year. Then you can use this in the description of the RKF and if the text variabe is name TYEAR1, then it appears like &TYEAR1&."
Thanks
Hi K M,
If you double clikc you rkf, it will open up a box call Edit Selection. Here to the right of the Description text box, there is a yello button for Variable. Here is where you can create text variables. Click that and Select New Variable. It opens up the same variable wizard. Use processing type as replacement path and select the char whose values you want the text to display. After you have finished this activity, you can see the name of your variable surrounded by "&" in the description box.
Hope this helps...
Bhanu,
So again sticking to my yesterdays query, I inserted "Text variable replaced by 0FISCYEAR" 0T_FYEAR, now when I run it, it says no value found for 0T_FYEAR in "&0T_FYEAR&Actuals for current month".
So where is it looking for value?
why does my & thing show up at the start?
Thanks for the support as always
"why does my & thing show up at the start" : Start of what? In the variable screen? If yes, then you created it as user defined instead of replacement path...
If you are talking about the start of the description, then no problem, you can select and move it to the end, or cut paste it to where you want it to appear...
