I suggest you do the following:

1 - Get the book S"AP Smart Forms - Creating Forms Quickly and Easily - No Programming Required! "

by Werner Hertleif and Christoph Wachter

2 - Read the SAP Documentation at help.sap.com

3 - Check some DEMO examples in SAP like SPPFDEMO_BOOK, transaction SMARTFORMS (hard to forget eh?)

You'll enjoy it. It is a great tool. But since you are starting, check also Interactive forms by Adobe. You can find a huge amount to training and documentation on SDN!
