SAP HXE remote data connection

Hi HXE experts,

I like to connect my HXE 2.0 installation to our SAP ERP Backend system (ECC 6.0 731) via "remote source". It seems that the only way with HXE is the connection using SDA, as SDI (with DP Server) is not fully supported.

I understood that with SDA Virtual Tables I have no performance improvement (execution of SQL statement is the same like in the source DB).

In order to use the full HANA power of in-memory DB, could it be an option to copy the SDA virtual table data to a new schema in HXE? The data replication must be scheduled somehow....

@Axel - The SDS feature (added for HXE SP01) is likely not the feature you looking for replication. The SDA feature is supported in HXE and will provide an alternative to SDI until it is supported in the future. The "System Replication" feature is likely not what you are interested in as this is HANA to HANA only.

Hi Vidya,

I checked the new release of HXE 2.0 SPS01 which is coming with "Smart Data Streaming" (SDS).

Is this the new Data Replication feature you were talking about?

We are currently working on the Data Replication feature and this would be part of future Hana Express Edition releases. Please stay tuned and we will notify when the functionality is ready.

Hi Axel,

Although HXE supports Smart Data Access , it sounds like you want to do system replication – which isn’t supported in the current version of HXE. Also, looks like you want to use this with an SAP application – but there are restrictions as per the EULA and you need to be aware that your license allows to access data in the SAP system.
