launch workflow

Hi,

Is it possible to start a workflow without a triggering event? Our client executes transaction OAWD and supposedly the old workflow is launched, but we want the new one to be launched instead.

Both the old and the new wf's do not have triggering events. How can we make the new wf start when any action is taken in transaction OAWD (Store Document)?

Thanks a lot, I will reward points for any clue,

Ivson

Are you talking about workflow tasks? In a previous post you were talking about replacing an old task with a new task, are you still talking about this situation?

The task is probably a step in a larger workflow, right?

Please explain more thouroughly.

Hi,

I was talking about workflow tasks, and this question was related with my previous post as well.

As I said before, the workflow tasks we use do not have triggering events. So my doubt was how to make the wfs start. We know that the client uses transaction OAWD to launch the wf, and I imagine that there must be some table, related to this transaction, that can be customized for the wf task.

Right now I am looking at table TWFDB, but I don´t know if there are more tables involved.

Thank you for your help, and sorry if it´s not too clear.

One more thing, the client launches the old wf task, while we want them to launch the new one. In summary, I need to know how to link or associate this new wf task to that application, so that the old task is replaced.

I'm thinking that the old task must be part of a larger workflow if the task does not have a triggering event. Have you tried using the 'where used' function for the old task to possibly see how it is being triggered?

I had a confusion translating from Spanish, because what I am using are workflow TEMPLATES, not tasks, sorry!

Is it possible that the old workflow is a subworkflow? Can you try hitting the 'where used' button for the old workflow?

I have done that, but it says that no relationship was found.

When you look at the workflow in the workflow builder, is there only one way to start the workflow? (the blue 'workflow started' step)

The workflow may be get triggered by a call to one of the 'WAPI' function modules (like SAP_WAPI_START_WORKFLOW)

In the wf Builder I only see the Test button (F8), to start the workflow.

Right now the client is trying a possible solution that we have implemented, that is modifying field TASK in table TWFDB, replacing the old wf template number with the new one.

Let`s see if that works.

I´ll take a look at that, thanks

That`s interesting, but our case is different, because they start the workflow in the background from a standard program.

Which program is it?
