Serial Numbering in Repetitive Manufacturing

Dear All

Has some one worked with the serial number magement in repetitive manufacturing. where semifinished material having serial number is consumed and a finished product is produced with serial number.

i was trying with repetetive manufacture in it in tcode MFBF the components that need to be backflushed are displayed in goods movements but there is no provision for selecting the serial number of the issue components.

If only finished product has serial numbering system gives a pop up at the backflushing screen asking for serial numbers for Good receipt.

How to map such a scenario in Repetitive manufacturing.

Or this scenario has to be mapped into discrete manufacturing only.

please suggest

    Hi Ravi,

    Please check transaction OIS2. Serial number is required or mandatory and in what cases (GI, GR, PP order creation, release etc.) are all maintained here in the serial number profile. I have a strong feeling this is what you need.

      i have seen in the OIS2 serial procedures MMSL 03 01,PPSL 03 01 are maintatined for the serial profile.

      I will explain the scenario with example I consume 2 semifinished serialised materials to produce 2 serialised finished product using repetitive manufacturing in back flushing screen we can assign the serial number for GR material and after assigning it if we post system gives an error message saying the serial numbers selected are less than the serial numbers needed for material document. In this material document 4 components are having serial numbers( two semi- two finished) but sap gives me a pop up window to assign the serial number for GR items only but not for GI so the error is coming.

    Dear Bala

    I think in repetitive mngf we can't process the backflush for assemblies,and we have taken a decision that for components we would not keep the serial numbering.Infact when we assign the serial number profile it asks us to remove the backflush indicator so it indirectly says that you cant backflush the serialised components.

    But this issue has puzzled me a lot thanks for helping by directing me
