Adding one more selection field in the standard data source

Hi SAP Gurus,

I'd like to know how to add one field as a selection field for the data source.I used 0FI_GL_4 Datasource .It has 2 selection.Now I want to add one more field as a selection field .How to mark that field as selection?I tried by using RSA6 ,But I'm unable to change the previous selection.

Please let me know how to fix it?

Hi,

select the required data source in rsa6 and then click on pencil icon to make change .

When you double click on the data souce you open the list in the display mode.

Hi Raja

You have to add one more field as selection field -> that you can do it RSA6-> Mark the checkbox ON for that field in selection colum and save. I don't understand what to you mean by "I tried by using RSA6 ,But I'm unable to change the previous selection". You are trying to add one more field as selection then why you should be changing previous selection, plz clarify.

Hello Raja,

You need to check the checkbox for selection against the corresponding field in RSA6.

Did u try this? This should provide u a field for selection in the corresponding infopackage.

Thanks for the immediate reply.

Yes.I tried that option first.But the all the check boxes of the fields under the selection are inactive.So I'm unable to change the selection options which were set initially.

Hi Raja

You can not mark every field as selection field in RSA6.

Read this for selection field column when you do F1 on it.

You need to set this indicator to use a field of the DataSource as a selection field in the scheduler in BW.

Not every field can be used as a selection field as a result of the DataSource properties. In this case, the property cannot be changed.

Raja,

you need to maintain the DS in RSA6 enable the field for selection.

If <b>the field is from Standard Extractor</b>, you can enable selection for any field(if there is no any specfic reason).

If <b>the fields are appended fields</b> you can't enable those for selection.

If <b>the fields are enabled for Generic Delta</b>, they can be used Selection.

I'll expalin the problem

I understood that every field can't be used a selection field .But my question is I've 2 selection (Company code,Fiscal Year) now.If I'm correct,these 2 options were set at the time of activating the business content data source.

Now i want to add profit center as another selection.

So I used RSA6 selected the datasource & clicked the change icon.Now the datasource is in customer version edit mode..But all the check boxes under selection are inactive.So I can't add one more selection.Only the hide field check boxes are active.

Kindly let me know if u get my question..

Hi Nagesh

For standard datasources only I can see the selection checkbox disabled for so many fields in datasource edit screen in RSA6.

Please check it at your end and also check doing F1 on selection column and let me know.

Pradip,

when ever you create any Generic DS, you can find generic DS(I checked this), comming append fields(it's happend to me)... there is no meaning.. as we know... we will extract the data for append fields using existing DS.

Comming Raju:

to my knowledge, you should not add that field as selection enabled(wait for others posts). I had seen many posts for working on this... by updating the Table ROOSFIELD table for the respective DS. I never implemented this... if you update this using any custom program be careful. Ihave ccreated the program for append fields not for Standard Extractor.
