Hi gurus,

i have read in many postings and Documents referring a term PRECALCULATION , what does this means.

and also about precalculation servers are they virtual or physical.

can somebody explain me what it is and give me scenarios when we require to do it.

Hi,

You have misunder stood a little bit. The value stored in the table will be used with query which the user will run and that query will have dynamic filter value which will be the value from that table.

Which means it will acts like global filter for query/query's

Hi,

Let say you have 100 millions worth of data and user wants to query for sales for top ten customer then you can think of the performance problem that the user will face.

What to do? User Precalcuation concept where using your information broadcasting you run the query after your loads in bw is finished and store that value in the table.

Now when your actual query runs then the values will be picked up from the table which will be only those top ten customer which will be passed to the actual query which the user runs.

Hi Sachin,

Thanks for your wonderful info..

so whenever we have some standard information viewed regularly we can use this precalculation method to run the query as soon as we finish our load and store the value in a table and then when the users run their reports this output will be given to them am i right.

will this offer navigation like now they have seen sales data of one region and if they want to change the region is it possible with the precalculated queries.
