Regarding the terminology of Reporting Bex and web

hi gurus,

i am trying to learn Web reporting...

i am a bit confused about the words used in the materials..and documents..

I request somebody to explain me the web reporting terminalogy by comparing with Bex analyzer...excel way.

i am in assumption that we create a query in Bex and save that in a workbook and then open the workbook and then publish it into web or IB.

but when i am going through the materials i am getting different terms.

like

Bex Web analyzer ---is this equal to Bex analyzer, so if we use this no need of publishing am i right.

Bex Web browser........

Bex Query designer & web query designer---??

Bex web application

BEx web application wizard

Bex web items--- plz explain by comparing with bex analyzer.

Bex web report---is this the same bex query when converted to bex web we call it as web report.

Bex web template---and workbook template.

can somebody plz explain me the link between them and also the different methodologies to create bex web queries...like

do we have to first create bex analyzer excel query and then start or else do we have to start differently...

-> No, we create query in bex and use it in web template (using WAD-web application designer), with 'web item' 'table' or 'graph', and point the 'data provider' to that query.

assume you are going to work with web reporting, take a look following

Hi gurus,

So this is what i understood about web reporting

First i will create a query in BEx analyzer and then click tools and select publish in web browser.

after that .....is this WAD a kind of GUI like we have it in our SAP GUI where we can logon.

and then after we logon to the WAD we can select a web template and then use the query which we created in BEx as a infoprovider to this template and use the web items for charts, conditions, tables...

am i right. if yes then how am i going to get WAD is this activity done by Basis guys.

i am sorry, i am trying to get web reporting...but getting confused.

hi Neel,

..and select publish in web browser..

-> not necessary, not related with web template actualy.

you can get WAD as bw add-on when install sapgui.

after install it go to the same 'business explorer' program menu. with WAD, go through the doc and hope you will understand how to create web template etc.

So you mean to say that if we have WAD we don't require to go through these steps like creating a query and publishing

by using the WAD we can directly create templates and use the query we created in bex analyzer as infoprovider.

am i right...sorry i am a slow learner.

yes, you still create query with bex, and use in web template as 'data provider'.

thanks for the time...

actually i was mixing up the Bex analyzer with the web.

so now i understood that

Web application designer is something like Bex analyzer.

but we have queries created for web.

We use the option of publishing queries into web from BEx analyzer so as to web enable them.

otherwise we create web templates from WAD and use Bex queries as data providers for web reporting..
