Attach external documents using UWL

Hi,

We were planning to use SBWP transaction in WebGui for the web access of the workitems. But we have some critical workflows which require user to attach some external documents (in different formats like doc, xls, pdf). When we open the workitem in webgui and try to attach a document, we getting an intermediate screen with heading "Enter Some file attributes" and a little later we get a message in status bar saying "Load applet failed" and the flow struck there. If we hit back, we get "Session expired message".

Does anybody have a solution to fix this?

Also if we implement UWL will this problem go away i.e if the work item is opened in UWL, can we attach any document to any work item without any problems? If so, are there any specific requirements for this ? Please let me know. We are using EP 6.0. Appreciate your help.

Hi Sudha,

what i meant was, even for decision tasks we have option to attach document in WinGui. I don't see the attachement option in UWL. Is that because i am missing some configuaration?

Thanks for the reply. Yes i can see the attachment icon in UWL. But when i open a decision task in UWL, i am not getting the attachment link anymore where as i get that in the WinGui. Am i missing anything? Let me know. Thanks for the help.

Looks like we are talking abt two different things - the attachments manager I am talking is avbl on the portal and not the WinGui (you can see that when you highlight an item in the UWL item list and the details come up below the table). I do not think this comes up once the work item has been opened using WinGui.

I am Raghu, SD consultant, I have seen you posting in SDN Forums, I am looking for some help regarding attachments to Sales documents and attachment flow through out the slaes process.

As per our business process we have to attache PDF, DOC and EXCEL files in Quotation and this attachment has to be referred to all subsequent documents.

I enabled a parameter in User Profile by going TC- SU3 - (SD_SWU_ACTIVE - X)

but here I can attach documents but which is not flowing to all subsequent documents.

Please suggest me a solution which will be highly appreciated

I am not sure abt the problem with SBWP, but yes, it is possible to attach documents in the UWL. There is a link for 'Attachments Manager' that can help you upload documents for each of the work items.
