TREX for SAP systems

hi friends,

I am in the process of installing TREX for SAP systems. I see in the guide that

Regarding SAP Gateway in the guide, i see that for TREX

1.Central SAP gateway can be used.

2.Using the SAP Gateways on the Application Servers.

When using central sap gateway, can it be installed in TREX server or any dedicated middleware system has to be used? Where is that exe found in market place?

Please guide me through the process..

Thanks & Regards,

Ganesh N

    Hi Ganesh,

Solution 1. (Central SAP Gateway), is also called a stand alone Gateway, and can be installed on the TREX Box or another server. Installation guide and required software are found on the so called "SAP GUI presentation CD" that can be downloaded on the service marketplace.

Solution 2. refers to that every ABAP system also has a gateway, that can be used, and thereby not require an extra installation of a gateway.

Personally i would select solution 1 if the TREX system should support several "clients" (SAP systems) because of the simpler configuration and maintenance.

Solution 2 could be used if only 1 (or few) "clients" should be supported, as it requires less overhead (reduce of TCO as it is also called).

But however this is my personal opinion...

Hope you can use the answer.

    • Hi Ganesh,

Go to then select "Download" (left hand side), "Installations and Upgrades", "Entry by Application Group", then on right hand side select "SAP Frontend Components", "SAP GUI FOR WINDOWS", "SAP GUI FOR WINDOWS 6.40" and then "Installations".

      There you are.....

PS.: CD "1/3" contains besides documentation and other tings the installation for the Windows platform, if you go or the UNIX installation CD "3/3" should be the right one...

(CD "2/3" holds the JAVA GUI that is unimportant for the gateway installation)
