Long Running Utility

What is the best way to analye a long running utility to see what changes I shuild make to improve efficiency?

    Do a runtime analysis using SE30 and check if the issue is with the database accesses or logic and then decide.

    Check ST05. This is the performance trace. It will show you the SQL log and which database hits are costing you.
