Please contact SAP Byd about future of this system because curently Silverlight IS NOT supported by all main internet browers. (Sliverlight main SAP ByD technology) Google Chrome don't suport Sliverlight since September 2015 Firefox don't suport Sliverlight from today New Microsoft Edge don't suport Sliverlight from begining Only browser compatible now is OLD Internet Explorer. Microsoft also plan to abandon this technology. Microsoft announced the end of life of Silverlight 5 in 2012. In 2013, Microsoft announced that they had ceased development of Silverlight except for patches and bugfixes. Windows 10 will default to using the Edge browser - not suporting Sliverlight = not suporting SAP Byd.

SAP needs to resolve this or hurry up with HTML. As an implementation partner, I need to be in Business Configuration, Application and User Management etc all the time. I gave up on Firefox a year ago, and totally use IE now. I am doing a solution walkthrough for the client next week, and SOMEHOW will have to explain why the system is crashing all the time. The one time I used HTML it totally hosed up the Owners on the Activity List - so I am not going back to HTML until I can stay there.

Are there any workarounds? It seems like it is getting worse every day. Please see attached screen shot of just the last hour - totally 11system-crashes-in-ie-in-last-hour.png sessions that crashed. I am using IE 11.1066 on a brand new machine.

SAP has publicly announced the migration of the ByD UI to HTML5 (search in this forum or it's archives for the relevant posts), and since ByD 1611 (Nov. 2016) this is available for ByD production tenants.

You access the HTML5 UI by modifying the URL you use to access ByD:

https://myXXXXXX.sapbydesign.com/sap/public/byd/runtime?client_type=html

We have been using the HTML5 UI actively since January this year, and it works very well. In many respects it's an improvement over the Silverlight UI.

Only certain Key User tasks still require the use of the Silverlight UI, and that is expected to be resolved later this year.

Regards,

Eelco
