BI4.2: Description missing on import users and aliases from SAP BW

Hello,

Some of the users in SAP BI have a BW alias for authentication and connection to Bex query. When updating the BW alias in CMC > Authentication > SAP > User Update > Update Roles and Aliases, the description of the users goes missing.

This did not happen when we were in B1 4.1 SP6, but after upgrade to BI 4.2 SP3 Patch 3, the description is missing after import of roles and aliases

We have performed these tests without success:

- Uncheck : Import Full Name, Email Address and other attributes

- Lower the priority : Set priority of SAP attribute binding relative to other attribute bindings

- Make a manual update

Following is our environment:

- SAP BI 4.2 SP03 patch 3

- Windows 2012 R2 SP1

- CMS on Oracle 11.2

- BW 7.31 SPS 4

Has anyone faced this similar problem? Can you help on this please?

Thanks for your reply but in our case we are on the BI 4.2 SP04 patch 2.

The sap note mentioned that the SP03 patch 3 will solve the issue.

Our case, the users are not imported.

Hello,

I update the ticket with complete description of our issue.

We assign the field description for every user. This is useful for us during review of the user accounts.

Since an upgrade of BI to BI 4.2 SP3 Patch 3, the field description remains blank ONLY for the users having a BW connection.

Below is an example :

he first 2 users have a BW alias and the last one does not.

To confirm that the problem comes from the BW side, we have updated the description of the user « Laurent BOURDIER » on the BI CMC platform:

On the BW side (BW >CMC > Authentication > SAP > User Update > Update Roles and Aliases),we have updated the Roles and Aliases as follows :

After update, when we return in the BI > CMC platform, we can observe that the description is missing for the users having a BW alias!

Thanks for your reply but in our case we are already on the BI 4.2 SP03 patch 3.

The sap note mentioned that the patch 3 will solve the issue.

Our case, the user is correctly imported but only the description of the user is missing.

Hi Jaabir,

We had exactly the same stituation the other day. This is a bug. We opened a message to SAP and SAP had note on this. Please check the note below:

SAP Note: 2389833 - Mapping of roles and groups fails in BI 4.2 SP03

Applying a latest SP and a patch will solve this issue.
