Hi all,

we are using <b>PFAL</b> transaction to transfer employee data.

In this transaction, there are two radio buttons for transfer mode in the selection screen:

1) insert 2) update

As per my understanding, insert is for transfering all the data in bulk, and update is for transfering only the changed data. As i am not sure on this, Can anybody please explain me in detail about this options.

Hello Priti,

Your are right <b>insert</b>option transfers data record for all of the object types and infotypes from the distribution model, old records are deleted in full and recreated.

When a complete transfer is executed for the first time, the insert mode must be used.

in any other case <b>update</b>option should be used.

Most widely, after the data is transferred for first time, the insert option is made disable and only update option

is used.
