Hi Gurus

2 questions ....

1..In setting for ODS we have option of unique data record if it is checked then it will only allow unique data to ODS but when we have overwrite functionality available in ODS then whats the actual use of unique data record functionality?

2..For migration of data from r/3 to BW ..In which case

you go for LO extraction? if daily new data is addded

to R/3.. then to update delta load into BW is it

necessary to create infopackage everytime of delta

loading or we can use the same infopackage for several

times with delta update option and schedule.? please

clarify this..

Thanks in advance

KK

Hi krishna

The unique data records option is checked when you are sure that the source provides the unique records to the target, then you go at selecting this. If there is a change in record then the system will trigger an error.

And as far as delta loading is concerned, you can use the same infopackage to load the delta too.

hope this helps

Hi,

1. Lets take example to understand

Customer City Sales

XXXX yyyy 10

xxxx zzzz 20

Here customer and city characterstics are key fields let say now delta comes with key values as

XXXX YYYY 5 what this will do is it will overwrite the value of 10 to 5.Unique feature allows you to add only unique records to you ods.

2. Hi LO cockpit is used in case of logistics module like SD, MM, PP,QM etc.. No you don't need to create a new infopack every time you bring in delta you have to use the same infopack with delta update option

Hope this helps!!!

Hi,

For your first question, when you choose the option, "Unique Records", only unique records are loaded into the ODS.

For your second question,

You will need to use the same Infopackage for all delta loads.

you will have to schedule the same Infopackage "periodically" so that this Infopackage gets executed periodically and periodic delta loading happens.

Hi krishna kumar,

Your first question, the "Unique data record" settings will be selected only if you are very very sure that your data source will send only unique records. If you have this setting selected, the records will be directly inserted in you active table from the activation queue. If the record is duplicated, the system wont insert in to the active table but it raises a error.

Your second question, you can use the same info package to load delta's daily.

thanks,

kishore
