text maintenence

for an SAP SCRIPT , i need to maintain a text in english and german .

I have the text with me in German ...now if i want to maintain it in say n diff languages , then do i need to have that text with me in all the languages ??

like " abcd " text in english ...If i want to maintain it in say german ...do i then need to have the german equivalent of the text with me and enter it manually in so10 language DE ??? Does maintenence of text work this way ???
