I have already successfully installed the NW2004s ABAP sneak preview and SAPGUI.
Then I logon to the Easy Access using account 'DDIC/minsap', try to execute the BW Workbench/Modeling, an error happens as 'You can only work in client 001'.
I logon with 'DDIC/minisap' with client 001 to try it again, but another error happens 'logical system is missing' and the DDIC can not create logical system and assign it to the client.
What can I do to make BW work?
Hi,
First, I assume that you have installed the add-on BI_CONT
for the BW system. Next define the logical system for the
BW client 001. Next go to se11 and display the database
table RSADMINA. There the field BWMANDT must contain the
client for BW for 001.

Hi Zhang,
I believe the BI_CONT is not available with the NW2004s
ABAP trial. You will have to download it from the link
http://service.sap.com/swdc -> installation -> Netweaver
-> 04S -> BI content for 04S. This package has to be
uncared and can be installed using the SAINT tcode.
Sorry for not being to the point in my earlier reply. You
have to define the logical system for client 001
which you intend to be the BW Client(forget 003).
Logon using ddic.
Got to tcode su01.
Enter a new username and
Copy using Shift+F5 from "ddic".
Define a new intial password and save.
Then logon using the new user created. Goto tcode bd54 and define the logical system for client 001.

Hi,
A logical system is usually defined in order to uniquely
identify a client in the SAP system. According to SAP the
definition is a system in which applications sharing a
common data basis run. In SAP terms, a logical system is
a client in a database. Messages are exchanged between
logical systems.
Once the logical system is setup, it can be used for many
fucntionalities.
Some examples include:
- For the Central User Administration used in BW setups
- For client specific RFCs when two systems communicate
where the systems may have more than one clients each.
- Various sales orders which are intended for some
specific client/logical system.
- A must for ALE/IDoc interface usage. The partner
profiles, tRFCs and ALE customizing requires the logical
systems.
Hope it helps.

Thanks again.
Another problem happens in the NW 2004 trial. After I create an infocube and datasource, I can load data into datasource(PSA) but an error happens when transfer the data from PSA to infocube. the error is as 'Join table TESTDATRNRPART0 does not exist - read SAP note 871084', can you give me some suggestion about how to fix the problem?
Hi,
The report mentioned in the Note is not included in the
system. I believe the report is neccessary for checking
the table joins. You will have to apply the SP05 for SAP
BW 7.0 component using the SPAM tcode. You can get the
SP05 package at http://service.sap.com/swdc. You can try
the same after importing the above mentioned package.

You are right and I need to install SP05 or higher. But the problem is that I don't have account to download the sp from sap swdc.
Do you know where I can get the SP? Is it legal that I use the SP in the NW trial?
Another question is that I create a user named 'BIUser' based on 'ddic', the user can logon to Workbench. But an error as 'username or password is incorrect' always happens when it logon to query designer do you know how to fix it? by the way, I assign the '0bi_all' and 'SP_ALL' to the user.

Hi CF,
Did you ever find out the answer to these questions? I am in the same position; I have a 2004S demo system and am trying to get it running, and I have an OSS ID but it doesn't give me enough access to download software from the swdc. Did you resolve this another way?

Hi,
I would like to install BW in my home system.
Is it sufficient if I install the components given under SAP NetWeaver 2004s Java Trial Version or should I install the components given under Full ABAP Edition-Trial (with Web Dynpro for ABAP!)
Also, after going through this thread, I find that we need to download some more components from sap service website and configure so that the BW home installation will work. But I do not have a login id for this web site. Please let me know if there is any otehr work around?
PS. I have not yet downloaded the sneak preview from sdn. Before proceeding, I want to confirm whether I have access to all the required components for installing BW.
Thanks.
