How to look at interface and determine the source and target system?
I mean, where do you look for such info in XI? Is it in Integration Directory or in Integration Builder? What objects do I need to look at and what information to note?
Thanks for help

Hi Sangita,
As Bhavesh had said, go through any previous scenario already existing in your directory. See as to how the interface has been configured in the communication channels, reciever and interface determinations, and the sender and reciever agreements.

Sangita,
Open any configuration Scnerio in your Integration Directory.
1. Look at the Communication Channels under Business Systems.Check what type of comm channels are the sender and the receiver.
2. Look at the Sender Agreemenet. You will get the details like Sender Interface and Communication Channel.
3. Next, look at the Receiver Determiantion. You will see that for Sender of step 2 , a particular Receiver has been mentioned.
4. Next, the Interface Determiantion. This will let you know , what the Inboudn Interface is and the Mapping that is being used.
After getting a flow on your Interface, open the Inetgration Repository and look into each of these Interfaces , mapping etc to see how the data is being transformed.

Bhavesh
Hi,
The best way to do this is to check the message mapping.
This would tell you the messages that are involved in the scenario.
After this, try figuring out the objects in the configuration.
1.Start with Sender agreement. You would understand, who the sender is and which communication channel is being used.
2. Receiver determination: This tells you who the receiver should be and the receiver service being used.
3. Interface determination: This tells you which are the two interfaces involved in the scenario. We also get to know about the Interface mapping and message mappings that are used in this scenario.
4. Receiver agreement: Talks about who the receiver is and which communication channel it is using.
Regards,
Smitha.
Your sending and recieving systems are configured in your Integration directory. This is your configuration tool. You will have to import the business system created in the SLD here. Then go on to create your Integration scenario.

Hi Sangita,
The blog actually does not show you the creation of business systems. These are configurations that you need to do on your System Landscape Directory(SLD). The SLD is where you create your business systems/tech.systems for your scenarios.

The blog you referred shows the steps to create an interface but how do you determine the sending and receiving system of existing interface without creating a scenario? There may be hundreds of interfaces, we cannot possibly test or create scenario for every interface. How do you inventory the interfaces?
The best way to do that would be to work out a sample scenario :-).Try working on a simple File-XI-File scenario to get you started.
SDN is the best source for you to learn XI. If you have any doubts, please keep posting in the forums, and you will always find people to help you out.

Hi Sangita,
You do mappings between the source and target system in the XI repository( Integration Builder)
First, U have to create a datatype for your source and target, and then create a message type from the data type. Then create the respective message interfaces for them.
Then, u map your source and target structures, before going on to configure objects in your Integration Directory.
Are you new to XI? I have posted some links below that would surely be of help to you.
