BO 4.2 SP3 Patch 4 Publication error Failed. Check the logs or contact your SAP BO Administrator

Hi,

We upgraded to BO 4.2 Support Pack 3 Patch 4 (Version: 14.2.3.2301). We get the following error while using publication and during step of loading 'prompts'.

Failed. Check the logs or contact your SAP BusinessObjects Administrator

Could you guide please the reason for this issue and any resolution you found. Thank you.

    Hi,

    I am getting the same error in publication properties. The error is very strange. If I will open the Publication properties and will go one by one property (Summary>General Prop>Source Doc>Enterprise Rec>Dynamic Rec>...>Formats) I will get an error "Failed. Check the logs or contact your SAP BusinessObjects Administrator" once pressing on "Formats". The strange thing is that I manage to open "Formats" once I just log in with the user go to publication properties and then open the "Formats" right away. The issue appears with all types of users including the Administrator.

    Using SAP BO 4.2 SP 04 Patch 04 (Unix Server).

    It is not possible to create new publications - because of this error the dynamic Recipients are not saved.

    Cause: During the installation of the patch I have got an Internal Error. Needed to repair the initial SAP BO installation. After the repair immediately started to get many GarbageCollection type errors for scheduling and processing servers. The old publications jams the server so I have needed to pause them.

    I have tried to install SP05 and did not experience this type of error anymore. However, I did not find a known issue with publications in SP04 Patch 04 Documentation.

    Have you heard anything about it?

    Having same issue, any known resolution will be greatly appreciated. We are currently on BI 4.2 SP3 P5 HF1

    Hi,

    I have also started facing this issue past one week. Before that the publication was running fine.

    We recently had no upgrade/patch update,still facing this issue while loading prompts.

    BO version : 4.1 SP 8 Patch 4.

    Please let me know if any one found the root cause of this issue.

    Hi,

    I found an SAP note for the same 2348207 - When scheduling a Web Intelligence document and selecting the Prompts section, the following error occurs: "Failed. Please check the logs or contact your SAP Business Objects Administrator"

    In the note, SAP says,it is caused by defect in the Production. Please apply SP fix.

    Hi,

    I have the same problem. Want to know if you found a fix? Prompts works for me but Formats is not. I set the logs as high unfortunately nothing prints in the log related it this issue.

    I have clean install BI 4.2 SP3 - Windows Server 2012 R2. Scheduling a Webi Report and selecting Formats I get:

    • Failed. Please check the logs or contact your SAP Business Objects Administrator

    prompts works as it should...

    Here is some clues that could lead to fixing the issue. I divide this test to 3 steps:

    1. Created a new user and add it to my scheduling group that is associated to my custom access level (User is only member my scheduling groups)

    • Scheduling a Webi Report and selecting Formats --- DOSE NOT WORK I get above message

    2. Add this user to administrator group (Now user member of my scheduling group and administrator)

    • Scheduling a Webi Report and selecting Formats --- Works

    (--- Here is the interesting part ----)

    3. Remove user from administrator groups (Now user only member of my scheduling group "same as step one")

    • Scheduling a Webi Report and selecting Formats --- Works

    After user is member of administrator and access scheduling a Webi Report and selecting Formats the issue is fixed. Does any one know why? and what is the fix?

    We are going live in few weeks and your input is certainly appreciate it. Thanks in Adv.

    Hi everyone,

    My issue was in everyone security settings. Not sure why the setting was change on this groups but sent back to default rights and that take care of my issue.

    This might be security related it issue for you too. Can you see the prompt if you login with administrator user?
