SAP ByD Reports in Pipe-Delimited Format

We see that SAP ByD reports can be downloaded as CSV (Comma-Separated-Value), but one of our customers wants this reports to be available in Pipe-Delimited-Format. The customer may not want to use external tools which convert CSV to Pipe-Delimited-Format citing security concerns.

Can SAP ByD report be downloaded/modified as Pipe-delimited-format in anyway?

Hi Syed,

Unfortunately currently there is not an option to set Pipe-Delimited-Format in SAP. However, you can still achieve this in Microsoft Excel by the following steps.

1. Download your report in CSV format from SAP system, as usual

2. You data in the CSV downloaded report will be separated by commas, looking something like this:

3. Select the data from column A and Click on Data > Text to Columns

4. Choose Delimited option and click on Next

5. On Delimiters section, click on Other and type " ; "

6. Click on Finish

7. Save your file as .CSV file

8. Open Control Panel > Region and Language, and then click the Additional settings button on the bottom

9. Set the List Separator option to " | "

10. Click on "Apply" and then on "OK"

11. Now open your saved report file in your text editor (Notepad, for example)

Your report will now be displayed in Pipe-Delimited-Format
