Hi Angela, Thanks for reply on this . This is details flow which is I am following and working fine as well. However my inspection plan is not static means my MIC keeps on changing. I do understand, we need to create the inspection plan with all details ( i.e. status, usage etc) however want to know the below points. 1) Do we require to maintain the MIC in the inspection plan...? 2) Is MIC maintain is compulsory in inspection plan ( if we have all VC set up) ..? As business will know MIC ( which need to check) once sales order is create and inspection lot create. Before sales order, business don't know which MIC need to check so not in position to prepare inspection plan with MIC in advance. I guess this is possible that we can prepare inspection plan without MIC ( MIC should be available in system as per above step) and once sales order is create then all relevant MIC should be update in inspection lot as per customer requirement. I want to know, what setting we require for such functionality so that we can prepare the inspection plan without MIC. Regards, Satish

For my process, I use 04 inspection origin and inspection plans with some MICs linked to sales order characteristics as specifications. Here is the general setup:

  • Create the sales order characteristic in CT04. Example characteristic Z_YIELD [numeric, 3 chars, Multiple Value, Interval vals allowed -- this allows user to assign value like "50 - 65" which will become the lower/upper specification limits].
  • Assign Z_YIELD to the 300 variant class assigned to the sales order material. Now Z_YIELD will be available on the sales order for input.
  • On the QM side, create a MIC (QS21 - example YIELD) and specify that the Class characteristic = the sales order characteristic which you want to be used as the specification (Z_YIELD). Create the MIC as a reference characteristic & set status as released, maintain other attributes as needed.
  • Assign this MIC (YIELD) in the inspection plan. Now when the sales order is created and value assigned to Z_YIELD, and the subsequent process order is released and inspection lot generated which uses that inspection plan, the specification assigned to the inspection characteristic YIELD will be pulled from the sales order characteristic Z_YIELD.
