    Hi Vamsi,

To my knowledge you cannot schedule background job on OS level using standard SAP utilities. However you can use third-party utilities like EMC Control-M that I beleive has a capability of scheduling via OS level.

If you already define job in SAP, you can raise event to run it via sapevt.exe program.

I can't find any reason to schedule batch jobs from the OS level? Maybe you can give us more info about what do you want to achieve?, You can use SM37 to schedule batch jobs.

    Hi,

Are you trying to schedule operating system jobs or sap specific jobs?

Background jobs can be schduled at the OS Level script using the "sapevt"

following is the syntax. Hope this helps.

    sapevt <event> [-p <parameter>] [-t] [pf=<profile>]

    | [name=<SID>] [nr=<instance>]

<event> Name of the event, as defined in CCMS (required)

    <parameter> specified parameter (optional)

-t generates a trace file called dev_evt in the directory from which

sapevt was called. If sapevt discovers problems, you can find out about

these in this trace file (optional)

<profile> path name of the profile (optional)

If no profile name is specified, the following parameters must be specified:

    <SID> SAP system name (optional)

<instance> instance number of the SAP system (optional)

    Hi Vamsi,

We cannot schedule a background job on OS level using standard SAP utilities. If you already define job in SAP we can execute it from os level using sapevt.exe program for this we have to log in into <sid>adm user from os level and we have to goto cmd prompt and the command is sapevt <event name> name=<sid> nr=<instance no.>.

However you can use third-party utilities like IBM Ti vole this is the external software of IBM which is specific for SAP of scheduling background jobs via OS level.
