Restrict on Sales org & Authorization

Former Member

hello,

I need to restrict a query to run for 15 Sales Orgs. Dependeing on the user profile the report should display the data.

If I have the restriction done on at the characteristic level, when a user who has no authorization to any of these Sales Org executes this report, It gives ' No Authorization error'. So I am adding these restrictions at the Key Figure level.

Is it possible to create a Variable / Fixed value field with these 15 Sales org's embedded in it ? If I can have one like this , I can use just this one field while doing a restriction instead of pulling in 15 values.

The reason I want this is , I will be using this for over 40 queries.

Any Idea's appreciated

Thanks

Raj

Hello,

had the same problems :-). It's about how you define your authorization variable for bex (single value, multiple values, etc) and how you define your authorizations in rssm. If you define your auth variable with single value then in the authorization in rssm there must be exactly on value included.

Hope it helps, cause I defenetly stroke my brains out until I got authorizations working...:-)

Hi,

for bw 3.x you can create a authorization object with at least salesorg + 0TCTAUTHH. Create 15 different profiles for every sales org one profile. In the query you use a new created authorization variable. The user has to have one or more of the mentioned profiles. When U now run the report, the authorization of the profile will be retrieved. As a result you will see only data for the auhtoriced salesorg in the profiles. IMHO there is now way to have a solution w/o changing the query.

Hi Guys,

am i right, you have several reports in which you offer 15 different sales org, correct?

When you now the report, the authorization should check the exact sales org and display only this data. AM i right?

Just give me a short confitmstion.

Yes. The report should display data only for those Sales Org you are authorized to.

Hi,

We have created a Z auth object that has sales org as the variable alongwith the region. We have that in a role and assign that role to the user.

We just change the Sales org and region values for each user before assigning, so that the role dosen't need to be changed, just the values of the auth object.

Cheers,

Hi raj,

In your authorization object, give the value ":" along with other authorization values.. so that other users who does not have authorization will be able to execute the report.. You should be able to solve the problem.. let me know..

Hi,

While doing the restrict for Sales org, I added the value ":" . It gives me the same error "No Authorization".

Am I doing something wrong...
